It was a proud day for the Esperanza's as the newest addition to the family, Jared Dominic, was baptized last Saturday in Berkeley. Here are some pics that I thought were pretty cool...

Sometimes when the world seems like it's crumbling to the ground...something about the kids take all of your worries away. I like to thank God everyday for the little things (in this case literally) in life that make it worth while.

I've had better Mother's Day weekends throughout my life than the one that just passed and if it wasn't for a few of my little homies...it could've been a lot worse. Let me just recap why...

First up... my godson Jordan. Just look at him (pictured above)! Crazy cute...and so aware of my favorite color! All he had to say was, "Here you go Ninang! A Fwower seeeee?" It was over! haha. I've always thought of Jordan as the godson that most reflects me just because of his silly antics and socialability...maybe that's why we vibe well. And such a heartbreaker he is! This dude had 2 girlfriends AND and ex! WTF? He can be seen at the bus stop at school hugging on a girl while whispering "I love you" to her as they part for the day. Oh bro! Such a ladies man he is.


Next up is my ninja boy wonder-master story teller nephew/homie Jaylen. Don't let this sweet and serene picture of him sleeping deceive you...he is a fireball when he is awake! He had been asking his ninong (my BFF) if he could come to my house to visit and the day finally came. We made cookies, he played with the royal dog Tempo, played some games on the laptop, watched some basketball, he told some awesome stories, and topped it off with his favorite snack...Philippine mangos! Haha this kid is just so fun to have around...and not to mention a great partner to have while playing swords! Fun times indeed!


And last but not least... my protege, Miss Aysiah Estores. Ahhh a breath of fresh air. I'll let her talent speak for itself. We're just about done with her first song. Here we are...March 2009 in Las Vegas, NV where the long awaited reunion and wedding of my cousin Eric took place. We've all grown up but we will never grow out of being family.

My godson Jay Esperanza Jr. turned 11 *sigh*


OK, so the AK 47s? HAHA, it's not what you think! I promised my godson J.J. a day at Dave and Busters to celebrate his 11th birthday so the three of us (of course lil' bro Jordan had to come too!) visited the Milpitas spot.

First stop...House of the Dead 4...hence the AK 47s. Yup, you know I got in the mix and shot a few zombies with them! The pictures speak for themselves...check them out.

FUN TIMES!

I happened to be at my second home, AKA the Estores residence, when Miss Aysiah Estores was coming home from school. It had been a week since I gave her the audio and lyrics for the song I wrote for her and I wanted to check it with her to see how she was doing with it. I know that she had a lot of school work since then so I wasn't expecting her to know the song at all yet. So I decided to put her on the spot by sticking my cell phone in her face as I asked her to give me what she had for the hook so far. I was pretty gosh darn happy with what I heard.

My godson Jay Jr. had a concert today at school. It was so cute watching all of these 4th graders doing their thing. I guess it wasn't too entertaining for his brothers Jordan and Jared because they were snoozing the entire time haha. Check out the pics...

The road towards this past weekend was pretty interesting. I witnessed a lot of inconsistency when it came to certain peoples behaviors which caused me to wonder what's really on their minds now a days. With that said, the fact that I had plans to be in Las Vegas for my cousins wedding was definitely an opportunity for me to step out of the box for a while.

The way my weekend started off was so unexpected. The plan was to stay at my Aunt & Uncle's house all weekend but another one of my aunts offered me a room on the strip so that I can be closer to everything. I couldn't say no to that, right? Man, she had pull for sure because I ended up with a suite to enjoy to myself (kinda sucked because my cousins weren't arriving until the next day so I couldn't share). So what did I do? I utilized the handy dandy jacuzzi that I found in my bathroom, kicked back and relaxed in the jets and bubbles while watching American Idol. haha. And yes, I lost track of time and stayed in there for an hour and turned into a raisin. It was definitely "me time" and it was exactly what I needed. Here are some pics from the suite:





After hanging out for another hour or so, I decided it was time for me to make some money. Let's just say, the next 2 and a half hours that I spent at the roulette table PAID off really well. ;) After that, caught some zz's and then back to the roulette table where again...the next 2 hours or so PAID off very nicely.

And then the fun came!...

This was a really special trip to me, being able to reunite with my childhood playmates after so many years of having lost touch with each other...where else would be more perfect than LV to be for this occasion. We have so many memories with each other and it's was so nice how we are all currently at the age where we've gotten passed the age/gender gaps -- for example, when some of us were 16, we would avoid our 8-10 year old cousins because they were too young to go to parties with us while on the flip side our 19-21 year old cousins would do the exact same thing to us. Now it's like whatever!...we've all grown and matured to a point where age gaps were just a thing of the past (however brought up a lot during our "remember when" stories). I joked around with my younger cousin Janelle and told her, "Back then you were trying to kick it with us but you were always way too young...and now we're trying to kick it with you!" In any case, the point I'm trying to make is about my appreciation for this past weekend...and that in my years of growing up, these people were such big parts of my life. Learning together, watching each others back, getting into trouble together, being family together. The fortunate thing is that although some of us lost touch with each other for such long periods of time... as long as 10-12 years...we can still come together and be THAT family again. It's like a lesson for myself really that makes me determined to not take time for granted. I can't automatically assume that the people I love will be here tomorrow and rather than waste time messing around with drama, I'd rather surround myself with whatever really makes me genuinely happy...and topping that list is family.
